Ease and Grounding | Calming Drops for your Nervous System

from $14.00

Who doesn’t have anxiety from time to time in the world we’re living in?

This formula was dreamed into being last summer when I harvested a giant basket of catnip from my garden, gave a few leaves to my cats, and then chewed a few leaves myself. I noticed a calm start swirling in my nervous system and I realized that this harvest also wanted to be made into medicine for the humans, too.

Catnip (Nepeta cataria) belongs to the mint family. It promotes relaxation, and is incredibly beneficial for chronic stress and anxiety. It also makes a good herbal nervine for children and may help to calm hyperactivity. The compound nepetalactone found in catnip is very similar to the compounds found in valerian, another common herb used for relaxation. It has a sedative effect on humans and can help with insomnia. The anti-inflammatory properties of catnip make it useful for calming internal and external inflammation as well as helping with pain, such as headaches, arthritis, and aching muscles. Catnip also has antispasmodic properties that provides calming benefits for indigestion and cramps (both the menstrual and digestive kind).

Lavender (Lavandula)  is also well-known to reduce anxiety levels. It has been valued through the ages in Europe, and more recently in North America, for the flowers' rejuvenating aroma, and for the many gifts Lavender so generously offers the human nervous, digestive, and respiratory systems. Lavender helps us navigate emotional and mental stagnation, irritation, unrest, and tension.

Lavender also has an incredible ability to support a healthy digestive system, especially when experiencing occasional tension related to feelings of nervousness. As a rejuvenative herb and brain tonic, Lavender also encourages a healthy night's sleep and a balanced response to everyday stressors.

Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis), another member of the mint family, from the Mediterranean region, is deeply relaxing to the body and mind. There have been several studies done reviewing the impact this herb has on depression and anxiety. It helps to reduce anxiety and overthinking while brightening and lifting your mood. It is a wonderful plant ally to reach for when everything seems dark and when grief starts to become depression.

Lemon Balm also brings ease and balance to the nervous system, helping to relieve feelings of overwhelm, quiet the mind, and support sound sleep. And its benefits are known to amplify when combined with other herbs! Win-win-win!

When combined, the effects of these herbs is synergistic and the resulting formulas support deep calm, relaxation, and help your mind settle and start to let go of the never-ending to-do lists. For children, these formulas can help to reduce hyperactivity.

To Use: Adults 13+: 10 – 20 drops, 2 – 3x per day, or as needed. Children 6-13: Reduce by half.

Ingredients: Organic homegrown Catnip (Nepeta cataria),  Organic homegrown Lavender (Lavandula), Organic homegrown Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis), Spirit of the Hive Organic Honey Shine Alcohol, PNW raw honey, Spring Water, and Love.
