ABOUT US

Kara + Nikke met in the most serendipitous way and are so excited to be sharing space together. Kara moved to Kalamazoo nearly 7 years ago from Portland, Oregon and Nikke is originally from Kalamazoo and currently resides in Portland. Their paths crossed just a few years ago when Nikke was in search of a sound therapist in Kalamazoo to share sound with her parents. From there, their stories merged.

And neither believe in coincidences.

Please take this invitation for you to make space for yourself. To surrender to the darkness, to go within, and to honor the gift that is given to us to slow down in the present moment. To be with the darkness to that we may appreciate the light.

Because without one, you cannot have the other.

Our time together will begin with Nikke guiding you through an active breathwork practice, meant to reset, realign, and extract that which does not serve you. You will be invited to release anything that you do not want to carry with you.

This type of breathwork practice is not a gentle meditative breath, but intended to activate our nervous system, enabling the release of stagnant energy and emotions. It is a transformative experience! Culminating the breathwork experience is the opportunity to scream/yell, which facilitates the ultimate release and allows your body to fully embrace surrender. Engaging in this scream/yell is entirely optional, if the idea of doing it feels uncomfortable to you. Gentle touch, focusing on your head, hands, feet, may be offered during the breathwork portion of the event.

As you are slowly eased out of the active breath practice, we will effortlessly transition into the deeply restorative, blissful sound landscapes created by Kara, which will provide the perfect backdrop for integrating what you have just released.

During the Sound Immersion, various instruments such as Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls and gongs (and so much more), will fill the space, allowing you to move into a state of deep relaxation. In this place, you body is offered the opportunity to release stress, relax, and shift your frequencies, raising your vibrations.

Benefits of the combination of Breathwork and Sound Healing

  1. Stress Reduction: Both breathwork and sound healing can activate the relaxation response in the body, helping to reduce stress, anxiety, and tension. The rhythmic breathing patterns and soothing sounds can help calm the nervous system and promote a sense of tranquility.

  2. Emotional Release: The combination of intentional breathing and resonant sounds can facilitate the release of trapped emotions and emotional blockages. This can lead to a greater sense of emotional freedom, allowing individuals to process and let go of unresolved feelings. Both of these practices can also help to provide relief from anxiety, fear, and depression.

  3. Increased Energy and Vitality: The active breathwork techniques oxygenates the body and improves circulation. When paired with uplifting and energizing sounds, this combination can help boost vitality and rejuvenate the body and mind.

  4. Enhanced Focus and Clarity: Breathwork and sound healing can help clear mental fog and enhance mental clarity. The focused breathing patterns and harmonious sounds can help individuals enter a state of heightened awareness and concentration.

  5. Creative Expression: The combination of breathwork and sound healing can stimulate creativity and self-expression. Engaging in these practices can help individuals tap into their inner creative potential and explore new avenues of artistic expression.

No previous experience is necessary to attend. We lovingly ask that you come with the willingness to explore the transformative power of breath and sound. In terms of logistics, you will be most comfortable if you wear something cozy and not restrictive.

Attendees are asked to bring their own props. We suggest a yoga mat, two blankets, a small pillow (for screaming in breathwork, can go under your head for sound), knee support (if you need it), an eye pillow and warm layers, including socks. Anything and everything you need to relax. Comfort is most important. You can choose to lay on the floor or be seated, then you may close your eyes and let the sounds carry you to where you need to go.

Oh, and don't forget your journal!
